Addiction is a disease which affects the mind, body and spirit. Prolonged use of drugs and/or alcohol greatly diminishes self-image and the ability to enjoy life sober. Texas Star provides a variety of therapeutic activities to address the negative consequences of addiction.
Individual counseling sessions and process groups are extremely effective tools in helping a person understand their relationship with addiction.
Off-campus outings, meditation classes, R.O.P.E.S., spiritual healing and physical fitness provide exposure to alternate ways of enjoying sobriety and life. They teach coping skills, anger management, social skills, interpersonal growth and many other life skills.
